Kinis'dziria or Sith Strategy
Kinis’Dziria (Kih-nihs-tsee-ree-ah) or Kinisits Dziria (Kih-nih-sihts Tsee-ree-ah) is an ancient Sith strategy game, designed for two to six players.
While history is unsure of who it was amongst the ancient Sith that invented the game, we do know that Darth Xholrix refined the game around 947 BTC/4600 BBY into what we know today.
Darth Xholrix was an avid strategist, well respected amongst their peers for their skill in battle. Darth Xholrix, after retiring early and passing their power in the imperial military onto their child, focused on developing and refining the game, having discovered the original version while studying in their apprenticeship.
They were also the one to give it the High Sith name of Kinis’Dziria, from the words 'Kinisits' (Strategy) and 'Dziria' (Game).
Pieces
There are 6 pieces in a modern Kinis’Dziria set. You have the Emperor (Kar Iwos) and Empress (Kar Rinas), two Darths (Tsitira), and two Lords (Ari). In ancient Kinis’Dziria, you would have the Ruler (Ririna), the Creator (Sarias), two Warriors (Kinisirsa) and two Apprentices (Dzayari).
Kar Iwos (Emperor)/Ruler (Ririna):
The Kar Iwos and the Kar Rinas are functionally almost exactly the same. Both may move 3 steps at a time, as long as they are not moving out of the quadrant from more than 1 step away (1 step between the piece and the border) and have not entered the quadrant on that turn. However, the Kar Iwos may only move up, down, or to the sides. It may not move diagonally.
Kar Rinas (Empress)/Sarias (Creator):
The Kar Rinas may move up (straight away from it’s player), or diagonally, with the same step rules as the Kar Iwos.
Tsitira (Darth)/Kinisirsa (Warrior):
The Tsitira may move up to six steps over a maximum of 2 quadrants (Not including the starting quadrant if they only move one step), but may only move diagonally towards it’s player, sideways, or up.
Ari (Lord)/Dzayari (Apprentice):
The Ari may move up to two steps up, down, or sideways while in either a neutral quadrant or it’s home quadrant. It may move in all directions, but only one step while outside those areas.
The Board
The board is hexagonal, with six spots for pieces on each side.
There are seven ‘quadrants’ - one neutral, a smaller hexagon in the center, and one for each player in a trapezoidal shape. These, if there are less than 6 players, are divided equally between players, with leftover becoming neutral.
While your Kar Iwos and Kar Rinas pieces are in your quadrant, they cannot be killed, unless an opposing player has 4 or more pieces in your quadrant. If they are in any other quadrant - including neutral - they can be killed.
There are 27 steps in each of the 6 quadrants on the outside ‘ring’, and 54 steps on the inside neutral quadrant. This leads to a total of 216 steps.
