The History of House Ataenus

The Tsis House of Ataenus is rather a minor one in regards to the overall history of the Empire, and yet their contributions and history must not be forgotten by future generations.

House Ataenus grew from Darth Xhanan, born Narikada Ataenus, and his marriage to Asha Visiskas, his much beloved wife. Darth Xhanan earned his rank through triumph over a far more popular and powerful rival, whose name was barred from mention after death, and was known at the time for choosing to establish his base of power outside of the Empire’s heartworlds - building a temple on the small jungle world of Jagomir.

Born a Ziosti Tsis, it was logical for Darth Xhanan to consolidate his power on his homeworld, close to the heart of Imperial society. He quickly converted his family’s meager properties into a large estate, employing hundreds to develop a well-guarded set of lavish holdings, with a set of public gardens and a small museum, as well as a large personal mansion, home to the Ataenus reliquary, and eventually, the family’s crypt. Until the Ziost Cataclysm of 17 ATC, the Ziosti estate was the primary residence of House Ataenus, with the Jagomir Temple - the residence Xhanan established to gift to his wife - traditionally gifted to the heir upon the event of their marriage, in order to establish the next generation of the House.

Four years after his ascension, Darth Xhanan shocked Tsis society by marrying someone deemed far below his station, Lord Asha Visiskas - the second child of a non-noble bloodline. A love match, Xhanan adored his ‘Iunoks Akirsa’ - an amusing nickname, due to the fact that both he and Lady Asha were quite tall, both standing well over six feet. Together they had four children, with today's ruling branch of the family descending from their eldest, Lord Irasa Ataenus. Five generations from Irasa, Lord Shikat Ataenus married the Human Moff Kaiame Ataenus and established House Ataenus’s cadet branch, House Azutaish with the first non-Force Sensitive child to come of Xhanan’s line. Ever since, any child born without the Force is given to House Azutaish and raised alongside their Force-Sensitive “cousins” as their stewards, seneschals, and loyal guards.

House Ataenus takes a Qyalat as its sigil, and it’s motto is ‘Virsuz Visa Mes Kioski’, which translates to ‘Above All We Stand’.
